I enjoy helping them grow, learn and ultimately have a better quality of life. It is empowering to see their potential and help them reach it. I especially enjoy when sessions take place outdoors. During a session with one family, we spent it outside playing hide and seek. Many family members were involved and it was heartwarming to see how the mom and her son connected. I really enjoyed that moment and seeing the children joyfully playing a carefree game.”

As a health and human services provider, our mission is to make life in the community more inclusive for the individuals we serve. We can also do our part in helping the country forge a path to a more inclusive future—one that is against the inequality and injustice of racism. Together, through open dialogue, reflection, and meaningful action, we are hopeful that we can create lasting change.

I am committed to providing a safe and healthy environment, and supporting them with self-help skills that work toward independent living. Taking them out in the community is especially rewarding, because it gives me a chance to teach them independence and money management, along with personal safety.”

During the month of May, The MENTOR Network celebrated our nurses who, each day, deliver high-quality care and compassion, not only to improve quality of life for the individuals in our programs but also inspire the rest of us to do our jobs even better. They are essential to our mission of helping people of all ages and abilities build rich, independent lives in the communities they call home. The COVID-19 pandemic has only elevated the need for highly skilled, caring nurses. Nurses in our programs are playing a heightened leadership role that highlights the immense value of these amazing caregivers in a time of crisis. Their expertise on clinical delivery, infection control, personal protective equipment (PPE), testing, and escalation processes provide guidance across service lines and inform best practices. The following link highlights a few of the outstanding nurses supporting individuals in The MENTOR Network’s programs.
