We had the pleasure of hosting a large group of high school students from Neville High School at our hospital campus for an educational visit through our workforce development initiative. The students toured various departments and were introduced to numerous healthcare career opportunities. It is always an honor to facilitate opportunities for young members of our community to gain insight into the important work we do at St. Francis. St. Francis Medical Center proudly welcomes 16 new Internal Medicine residents who will begin their training this summer after successfully matching through the 2025 National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) Match Day. As part of St. Francis’ growing commitment to graduate medical education, these new residents will train under experienced physicians, gaining hands-on experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings while caring for the Northeast Louisiana community.

Several of our Internal Medicine residents recently attended the American College of Physicians Internal Medicine meeting in New Orleans, requiring each resident to provide a research project. Congratulations to Dr. Swesha Shrestha for winning first place in the oral abstract competition and our Medical Jeopardy Team (Dr. Rahul Kumar, Dr. Niku Thapa and Dr. Arti) for their second-place win!
