Survival rates increased about 20% for children with high-risk neuroblastoma enrolled in a St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital clinical trial that included a novel monoclonal antibody produced onsite. The findings appeared this week in the Journal of Clinical Oncology. “I have treated high-risk neuroblastoma for 30 years, and I have never seen results like this in high-risk patients,” said first and corresponding author Wayne Furman, M.D., Faculty, Department of Oncology.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has named its new 625,000 square-foot research facility the Inspiration4 Advanced Research Center in honor of Inspiration4, the world’s first all-civilian space mission to orbit Earth led by Jared Isaacman, CEO of Shift4 Payments. Recently, St. Jude welcomed all four astronauts to the St. Jude campus to unveil the facility's new name. The Inspiration4 Advanced Research Center will accommodate 1,000 employees and become home to the developmental neurobiology, immunology, cell and molecular biology, gene editing, metabolomics, advanced microscopy, epigenetics and genomics departments, among others.

Meet Rosalie! This cuddly 60-pound Golden Retriever is St. Jude's latest facility dog whose role it is to provide emotional support to employees. Rosalie’s arrival was much anticipated by employees whose challenging work has become more demanding with the COVID-19 pandemic. Rosalie joins the St. Jude Paws at Play program, which launched in 2019 with the arrival of Puggle and Huckleberry, who are both focused on patient care.

The Global Registry of COVID-19 in Childhood Cancer has shown that 20% of children with cancer who are infected with SARS-CoV-2 develop severe infections. Results from the registry indicated that in addition to more severe or critical infections, pediatric cancer patients were more likely to be hospitalized and die than were other children. The pandemic also disrupted cancer treatment.

The St. Jude HPV Cancer Prevention Program aims to reduce human papillomavirus (HPV)-associated cancer deaths locally and nationally by increasing HPV vaccination rates.
