Members of the Animal Nutrition Business Unit attended the International Production and Processing Expo (IPPE) in Atlanta, GA in late January. IPPE welcomes a global audience of meat, poultry and egg and animal food professionals to showcase the newest solutions, technologies, research, processes, services and products that the global animal food and protein industries has to offer. The team hosted a drop in event for customers and prospects during the first evening of the event.

The 2023 Annual Report meetings were held across the company in November and December. This year team members met with their business unit, rather than by location. The theme for this year’s annual report was “The Vision for Our Continued Success," and company leaders were able to share past successes and future plans with the entire team. John Lewis Jr. won the raffle prize at the Leidy's meeting in November.

In October, The Wenger Group donated $100,000 to fund a new ag lab for elementary school students. The Pennsylvania Friends of Agriculture Foundation and the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau replaced their original fleet of mobile educational trailers that traverse the state educating students grades K-5 on where their food comes from and the science behind farming. Under the guidance of retired school teachers, the ag labs’ hands-on learning experiences include how to make butter and glue out of milk as well as the components of flowers. Barry Shaw and Abby Lowry attended the dedication of the new trailer for the 20th anniversary of the program.

Our operations team attended North Carolina State/Carolina Feed Industry Association (CFIA) Feed Education Week in late October. The week consisted of a two-day short course where Dr. Adam Fahrenholz and Marissa Cohen, faculty of the University and Extension, taught about each process in the feed mill. The days consisted of a combination of classroom learning and hands-on experience in NC State’s very own feed mill.
