When we announced the UW Credit Union Fund for Racial Equity in 2021, we focused on local organizations that remove barriers for people of color – which can take many forms, like enabling access to education and supporting the journey toward economic stability. One Fund recipient, the Latino Academy of Workforce Development, Inc., is doing both. In the years since the Fund for Racial Equity program, the Latino Academy has used its funds to expand its CDL (commercial driver’s license) training course, allowing students to upskill and take on better-paying career opportunities while also creating an invaluable talent pipeline for local businesses. Earlier this month, the Latino Academy celebrated 83 students who completed the CDL program or general education program – its largest graduating class to date. Congratulations to the Latino Academy of Workforce Development for all of its success! We’re so proud of everything you do for our community.

Last week we were proud to host the Honorable Rodney E. Hood, who served as the 11th chairman of the National Credit Union Administration from 2019-2021 and currently serves as an NCUA board member. Our engaging conversation focused primarily on financial inclusion; our diversity, equity and inclusion work; and the value of equitable banking products and services for all. Thank you, Mr. Hood, for giving us the opportunity to show how we uphold the credit union difference. #DEI #DEIStrategy #DiversityEquityAndInclusion
