The University of Louisville and Kosair for Kids are helping to dramatically expand capacity and improve services for children recovering from spinal cord injury. Supported by a $1 million grant from Kosair for Kids, this project will renovate the fourth floor of Frazier Rehab Institute, creating a 12,500-square-foot, state-of-the-art space that consolidates all therapy, research and clinical services for the center.

March is Brain Injury Awareness Month, and UofL Health is partnering with a Jefferson County Public School to hand out bike helmets and help prevent common injuries.

Mayor Craig Greenberg announced that Louisville Metro Emergency Medical Services (EMS) will be the first agency in the Commonwealth of Kentucky to deliver pre-hospital blood and blood products to patients in the field. EMS will partner with the American Red Cross to provide this service, which is offered by less than 1% of EMS agencies nationwide.

On March 18, 2025, UofL Health – South Hospital celebrated its one-year anniversary of providing acute, inpatient care to residents of Bullitt County, south Jefferson County and the surrounding area. The $78 million acute care hospital opened last year with 40 inpatient beds and shell space for an additional 20 beds. The new hospital filled an access gap in Kentucky’s 10th-most populous county, allowing local patients to get their care closer to home.
