Valleywise Health and the Chandler Family Resource Center hosted The Great Reading Carnival at our Chandler Community Health Center! Families enjoyed games, crafts, and story time from the Chandler Public Library, inspiring a love of reading. Thanks to Read On Chandler, each child took home 10 free books! Attendees also entered a raffle for scooters, trikes, and skateboards, promoting outdoor fun.

Last week, Valleywise Health had an amazing time celebrating our sixth consecutive year as an “LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality Leader”! 🌈✨ We’re proud to be the first hospital in Maricopa County to participate in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's Healthcare Equality Index (HEI). We were the first to receive a top score of 100, and continue to obtain a top score every year because of our commitment to discrimination protections and high-quality care to our LGBTQ+ patients, visitors, and staff. We are thankful for our valuable partnership with Aunt Rita's Foundation, which plays a crucial role in supporting our efforts. Shoutout to our executives and team members who joined us at our HEI celebration for inspiring discussions and refreshments! Here’s to making healthcare a safe and welcoming place for all!

We’re thrilled to announce that we earned two prestigious honors at the Arizona Hospital Leadership Conference last week! Talk about a healthy dose of recognition! Community Engagement Award: Our “Bicycle Helmet Screening and Distribution in the Emergency Department” initiative was recognized for our commitment to community health. Huge thanks to our Emergency Department team and Injury Prevention Coordinator, Sarah Latham. Patient Safety and Quality Award: We received this honor for our “Target 1 Percent – Blood Culture Contamination Rate Process Improvement” project, led by Nursing Director Shauna Lee. These awards reflect our dedication to excellence in patient care and community engagement. Together, we’re making a real difference in patient care without exception, every patient, every time.

They are members of Grupo Coatlicue, an Aztec dance group that preserves the cultural heritage of our ancestors through performances that date back to the early Spanish colonial era in Mexico. What It Took to Build Valleywise Health's $935 Million New Medical Center
Teamwork and an unwavering shared purpose of helping patients are just two of several reasons why Valleywise Health’s Information Technology team is the 2024 Nurse Partner of the Year. They look to be the nursing team’s silent partners – doing their BEST work to ensure all systems run smoothly, from transport to environmental services (EVS) to registration, so the nursing team can seamlessly do their jobs. Several members of Valleywise Health’s IT staff have clinical backgrounds, and some are former nurses who moved into IT and continue to serve as a trusted care team member who understands the nuanced workflow and needs on both sides.
