Meet Piedad Blake, a behavioral health nurse manager at our Maryvale Behavioral Health Clinic, who represents the very BEST of her profession. She began working as a nurse at Valleywise Health in 2000 and 20 years into what she calls her “passion,” she moved in to behavioral health. She describes herself as a caregiver but says her most important role is as an advocate – for both her patients and her team.

It’s been two weeks since we safely moved over 200 patients in beds or wheelchairs to large, private rooms in the new Valleywise Health Medical Center. This news report captures how our employees, physicians, and volunteers worked tirelessly to plan and execute this massive operation. “It’s a historic moment and the fulfillment of a promise to the people of Maricopa County to build a new public teaching hospital and safety net system of care for the residents of our beautiful Valley and throughout the Southwest,” said Steve Purves, President & CEO.

This year, we were extremely humbled to honor the more than 500,000 veterans living in Maricopa County at the 2021 Phoenix Veterans Day Parade. Healthcare workers were named one of the "Celebrity Grand Marshalls" to recognize their bravery and commitment throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Thanks to everyone who came out to support!
