Today, we celebrate the 32-year anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a civil rights law written into effect in 1990 that prohibits the discrimination against individuals with disabilities. A few ways to further support your co-workers with disabilities include: • Incorporate and consider accessibility in all recruitment processes and general projects. • Address misconceptions and myths regarding disability with other co-workers and superiors. • Attend and provide unconscious bias training for employees. • Ask for their input; those with disabilities provide a different perspective and may have solutions to problems that affect others. • Learn their preferred communication method. Depending on the disability, some individuals may prefer emails over phone calls, and so on. • Be friendly! Let the person know you’re a part of their support system. Not only is it essential to create a safe workplace environment for those with disabilities, but it is also just as important to educate others.

At Veritiv, our environment is a main motivator and focus. We continue to find energy efficient techniques to improve our fleet processes. Here are a few of the advancements we made in 2021: - We reduced total fuel consumption in 2021 by 6%, which totals around 210,000 gallons of fuel conserved. - We operate a modern fleet of trucks with best technology and industry practices in place to promote fuel efficiency, such as: speed limited to 65 MPH, auto shut down after five minutes of idle, and automated transmissions. - We are a proud member of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay Transport Partnership, which helps businesses reduce transportation-related emissions. - In 2021, Veritiv partnered with Penske to pilot an electric truck in Downey, California. We ran the truck for almost nine months and travelled over 10,000 miles and 400 hours. The truck performed well overall.
