Vamos, Vamos, Vamos ATL! Because we believe customers, employees, and nonprofit partners are all Veritiv MVPs, we celebrated them at an Atlanta United FC match last weekend. Thank you Junior Achievement of Georgia and Veritiv Connects volunteers for collaborating to ensure the next generation of students score big in their careers!
In our #VeritivExperts series, we recently spoke with Carolyn Brewer out of Livermore, California. She is a Kitting Business Manager for customers in the Western half of the U.S. Carolyn said, "each Kitting and assembly program is complex, and we create a holistic plan unique to the needs of each customer." We specialize in helping customers within hi-tech/retail, manufacturing, medical/biotech, and cold-chain. Our Kitting team collaborates with team members across North America including sales, engineers, packaging equipment specialists, designers, testing team members, and more to make sure every variable and detail has been considered. Remote work has its perks, and we at Veritiv encourage our office-based employees to work in an environment that allows for flexibility and collaboration in the workplace. Since adopting a hybrid model, employees operate on a schedule where they come into the office on Mondays and Thursdays and the other days can be flexible (work in the office or remotely). Bunny Baum experienced the workplace before, during and after the height of the pandemic, she said, “I really like being able to alternate between working from home and the office. I tend to get more work done at home, but I enjoy the social aspect and being around the people at Veritiv, so continuing to come to the office is very important to me.” Ta’Keda Eastern, a newer member of the Veritiv family, said, “I appreciate the time I save commuting on the work-from-home days. I dedicate those hours towards planning and mindfulness so I can have a rewarding work-life balance.” Veritiv was highlighted for our Flexible Workplace Program in HRO Today (www.hrotoday.com/workforce-management/flexing-the-workplace).
Celebrate good times, come on! In celebration of Veritiv’s eighth anniversary, our team created 100 birthday boxes for Agape, a nonprofit organization serving 2,000 school-age children from under-served families. Agape provides after-school programming and family services which focus on character development, academic achievement, reading proficiency by third grade, high school graduation and post-graduation placement. Since 2009, high school seniors enrolled at Agape have had a 98% graduation rate. #celebrate #anniversary #birthday #growth
To honor the conclusion of this year’s Pride Month, our Veritiv team volunteered at Lost-N-Found Youth thrift store that supports LGBTQ+ youth in need. Through this #VeritivConnects activity, they sorted clothes, received donations, and organized merchandise. Lost-N-Found Youth is an Atlanta-based nonprofit that exists to end homelessness for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ) and all sexual minority youth. They envision a world where all youth feel safe and supported to live and love authentically. #Togetherness #Pride
On this #NationalTakeYourDogToWorkDay, we honor our furry, canine co-workers for being our constant companions. We celebrate their devotion by asking team members to post a picture of their furry companions on LinkedIn and Facebook with #Veritiv. Despite the occasional inappropriate barking and squeaky toys on calls, we don’t know where we’d be without them! #Friday #FunDay
Within our facilities we apply continuous improvement principles that we advise our customers to apply — finding ways to eliminate waste and reduce energy consumption. We aim to improve energy efficiency across our operations through retrofit projects and the use of efficient equipment and technologies. Veritiv also partners with ENGIE Impact to assess and optimize our energy and water usage in all North American facilities. In 2021, we: • Consumed 39M kilowatt-hours (kWh), a reduction of 5% from 2020 • Installed 10 High Volume Low Speed (HVLS) fans to reduce energy use by circulating air to regulate temperature in warehouses • Removed 434 pieces of material handling equipment (MHE) from the MHE fleet in 2021 • Reduced our energy consumption from .27kWh/sq ft in 2020 to .26 KwH/sq ft in 2021 We invest in training and tools for our team to provide recommendations on the best environmentally sustainable practices. We conduct these same business exercises in our facilities, as well as provide recommendations to our customers.
Yesterday marked the anniversary of #Juneteenth, the newest Federal holiday signed into law in 2021 and celebrated by African Americans for many generations. Juneteenth commemorates a pivotal point in the end of slavery in the United States as communities gather to celebrate freedom and resilience. Today, we are proud to support our African Americans & Allies Employee Resource Group as they host trivia, engaging Q&A, and personal stories from Veritiv leaders. As we reflect on the significance of Juneteenth, we acknowledge the issues of the past while working toward a more equitable future. At Veritiv, we are committed to taking actions that move us toward equality and equity, ensuring everyone has access to the same opportunities. #Learn #Grow
Happy #FathersDay weekend from Veritiv!
Our team in Carrollton, TX packaged over 200 swimming safety kits for Safe Kids Worldwide – Dallas chapter. Drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury-related death among children ages 1-14.
