Kindness can be contagious, and our team enjoys giving back to our community. For February’s “Random Acts of Kindness” week, our team rallied to write letters to the elderly through Letters Against Isolation. Our team members also shared some sweet ways in which they show kindness including one leader who builds hygiene kits with his family and distributes them to those in need. Another employee buys grocery gift cards and gives them to a local fire station. We also have team members who make food for neighbors, and leave goodie bags on front porches to spread a little cheer. #MondayMotivation
#InternationalWomensDay invites all people to celebrate the achievements of women – past and present – reflecting on both how far we have come and where we still need to grow. This year’s theme is #BreakTheBias, challenging stereotypes which restrict the advancement of women in society. To #BreakTheBias, early education is key. Therefore, Veritiv believes in supporting programs that allow young women to learn, grow and thrive. We invest in mentoring opportunities at Girl Scouts that unlock new avenues for success and advancement. In partnership with Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta, Veritiv was able to host 96 girls virtually at an exclusive Science of Design event. During the event, Girl Scouts learned about Vertiv’s design process (including the design of a cookie box!) and hear about “a day in the life” of esteemed female #STEM professionals. #Women #GirlsinStem
In honor of #EmployeeAppreciationDay, Veritiv thanks and celebrates our employees for their hard work and commitment to excellence. Thank you for all you do to make Veritiv a great place to work!
Next we head down south to Sandy Springs, Georgia in our #VeritivExperts series to speak with Michelle Hanna, Envelope Converting Coordinator. Within our Print business, Michelle purchases raw goods including rolls of paper and packaging, then she coordinates the shipping of those materials to our converter. Once the envelopes have been made, she utilizes Veritiv Logistics Solutions (VLS) to ship the envelopes to our nationwide warehouses so that they can be used locally by our customers. We convert millions of envelopes under our Seville brand, from the commodity #10 business envelopes to booklets and catalogs, to whatever fits the customer’s need. For more information, visit www.veritivcorp.com/paper-and-print. #OneTeam #Specialists
Our Veritiv team enjoys volunteering and donating to the American Red Cross to help further their mission. We have hosted blood drives and supported the “Sound the Alarm” campaign, a home fire safety initiative. Red Cross helps thousands of people in our communities by providing emergency assistance and disaster preparedness education. #RedCrossMonth #VeritivConnects
For our #VeritivExperts series, we spoke with Test Engineer Manager, Earl Lee who is relocating to our Chandler, AZ facility. Earl recently joined Veritiv and oversees all testing activities in our U.S. ISTA labs (Chandler, AZ; Chamblee, GA; and Livonia, MI). As a member of the testing team, he develops and executes world-class testing solutions for our design and sales teams, assisting current and future Veritiv customers. Their goal is to ensure customers have the most efficient, protective packaging solution available. Earl joined the team in December, and he said, “the first couple of months have been very exciting! Veritiv is filled with talented people that want to move the organization forward. It’s truly a pleasure to be part of the team.” Welcome, Earl! #OneTeam #Specialists
For our last Warehouse Worker Appreciation Week spotlight, we highlight Ray Sanchez, Jr. of Lakeland, FL. He was hired in January 2021, and he has quickly become the top night picker, and ranked #1 on the team for picking the most products last year with more than 23,000 total items! Distribution Supervisor Rob Gerson said, “Ray is a great team player who sees someone needing help and he stops what he is doing to give an extra hand." Thank you, Ray, for your hard work to keep our customers happy and to keep our day-to-day operations running smoothly. Enjoy your Warehouse Worker Appreciation Week! #Thankyou #OneTeam
In honor of Warehouse Worker Appreciation Week, we acknowledge Oscar Ruiz Palacio of our Torreon, Mexico facility. Oscar started with Veritiv as a kitting associate, and has since been promoted to warehouse worker, based on his desire to learn and take on additional responsibilities. His hard work and support during inventory counts has helped the Torreon division reach their best results. He is currently continuing his learning and development with Veritiv by learning to drive one of our trucks. His manager, Mauricio Hernandez said, “Oscar puts extra attention to safe working processes, and we appreciate his hard work and willingness to learn new skills.” #Thankyou #OneTeam
Up next, we would like to recognize warehouse worker Paul Price from our Valley View, Ohio facility. Paul has been with Veritiv 16 years and has become the leader in processing the highest volume of orders daily for his division. He places safety first by consistently calling plays and completing pre-shift material handling equipment (MHE) inspections consistently. Paul puts the customer first to get them what they ordered, when they order it. His manager, Richard Abramowski said, “we can count on Paul to complete his route picks, help others finish theirs and then help load the routes. He’s a great team member.” #Thankyou #OneTeam
To continue our Warehouse Worker Appreciation Week spotlights, we recognize Inventory Control Coordinator, Soua Thao from our Sacramento, California facility. Since joining Veritiv in 2018, Soua has received two Employee of the Month awards and an Employee of the Year award. He is always the first person to volunteer to help out on the warehouse floor. His Operations Manager Mike Martinez said, “His effort and attitude are phenomenal, and he’s been recognized by co-workers, sales and management alike for his attention to detail in all he does. He goes above and beyond to do great work every day.” #Thankyou #OneTeam
