“I studied finance and economics in college and was immediately drawn to social entrepreneurship, anchored around the concept that business can be a force for good in the world. I began my career working for a fair trade retail start-up in Uganda and moved to Austin to work for a similar, eco-friendly women's retail brand. It was an incredible learning experience to play a role in starting a new business — from operations to production to management. The most rewarding part was directly seeing the impact on the lives of the various artisans who made our products. After about eight years of working in start-ups, I was ready for a different experience that still championed social impact and immediately saw Whole Foods Market as an ideal place to land. The more I learned about their Purpose to nourish people and the planet, the more excited I got at the prospect of working here. I joined the team in 2018 as a Senior Analyst of Business Process Improvement. I have since learned so much about the organization and how to support change within the business as we took on new challenges, tools and processes. After leading a team of project managers within the Merchandising team, I had the opportunity to move over to Sustainability as the Principal Program Manager.
