IBM offers a standard 401K plan because all other companies do. They feel they have to. Big deal! THEY TOOK OUR PENSIONS AWAY and replaced them with these mediocre 401K programs. The people at the top kept their pensions though. It's only the garbage employees who lost theirs.

It's important to correct this statement that the change in retirement plans over the years did not affect our top executives. This is not correct.
