Health Insurance

For a health care company it seems a bit high. They do follow the religious and ethical directives of the Catholic church.

I am satisfied with it.

Good coverage, poor bariatric benefit

It is a tiered system with a HSA and a PPO plan. They give $500/yr in the HSA and the cost is less than the PPO. The deductibles are high... $1,000/$2,000/not sure on the third tier. Out of pocket max on Tier 2 (which is the Cigna network) is $4,500

"Consumer directed" health plan denies prescription claims for malaria prophylaxis.

Huge upfront costs discourage employees from getting necessary preventive care and seeking prescriptions that could increase quality of life significantly. It is propagated that they upfront costs are meant to reduce unnecessary healthcare spending, but the tool is to harsh. It instead prevents important visits and medications that would be extremely helpful but are not "required" to function. The healthcare/insurance system combined model reduces negotiating power by the insurance company, and in my opinion, creates a conflict of interest.
