I felt like if you missed a day of work, especially when your child was sick, it was drama. Especially from those who didn't have kids. They seemed to feel you were getting special treatment by calling in to care for your child.

I've been too sick to work numerous times in two years, but couldn't call in because there is never coverage. They don't want people getting over time and all managers are scheduled to the hilt.

As a part time associate, I do not receive paid sick time. So, I have to call in when I do not feel well. Once I called in and they made me come to work anyway since they were so shorthanded.

You will be forced to come in even if sick. It's very hard to call of for sick day or death in the family. You will be told it's your responsibility to get someone to work for you.
