The training and salary you get as a Soldier are only some of the ways the Army strengthens you for tomorrow. The Army also offers money for education, comprehensive health care, generous vacation time, family services and support groups, special pay for special duties and cash allowances to cover the cost of living.
Good pay, long hours, lots of travel, hardly anyone actual does real work, lots of brotherhood and bonding, weapons and explosives.

some you had to pay for out of your own pocket. The cutback made it difficult for everyone to maintain certain benefits.

Great retirement plan if you invest a portion of your income into the thrift savings plan which is similar to a company that provides a 401k. GI bill benefits pay for 36 months of schooling during which you receive money for books as well as living expenses. Full medical and dental paid. Also no co-pays. And $4500 per year towards schooling on top of the GI Bill. Many other benefits as well such as discounts at numerous stores and groceries and other misc items are tax free when purchased on a military instillation.

Medical coverage is absolutely excellent, and salary is very competitive when you include allowances for housing that vary based on location.
