Tri Care is a great package for active duty military. I'm not aware of any other insurance that allows you x-rays, mri, CT scans without ever seeing a bill or co pay. No cost for dental or doctor visits as well.

The Army provides amazing benefits not offered anywhere else in this country. Free health care, housing allowance, decent pay, paid moves, paid travel, 30 days vacation every year, retirement pension plan and 401K like contributions plan. Plus you will get as much job training as you can fit into your life and sometimes more. Plus you can get extra pay for special duties.

20 year retirement and separation pay

Best thing about the US ARMY's (or the armed forces for that matter) benefits package is that you will not find any like it. Housing allowance, COLA, clothing allowance, retirement contribution, tax free occasions and more....you just have to sacrifice several things that in my opinion would be easy if you are single or if you start early.

Approximately 45% of the cash compensation (housing allowance and meal stipend) is exempt from federal income and FICA taxes, resulting in significant purchasing power, particularly in Washington, D.C. The pension plan is cliff-vested, meaning you must serve 20 years or receive no pension at all.

Health Insurance when you retire exceeds anything you could get for the price. It may not be free but the price is easily worth it when you look at the other people and what they pay.

Time off opportunities (Leave/Sick) and Healthcare coverage are the greatest benefits offered by a government civilian service position.
