Job Training

You are put through 2 week job training. This includes a school like setting for general information and policies, vehicle training, and a shadow day. This is a very good prerequisite, but nothing can or will prepare you for the actual job other than doing it yourself. You will make your judgements during your 90 day probation.

I received Orientation for two days at a different facility. Two 8 hour shifts at $16 per hour isn't bad, specially since you only view videos, and sign training papers. It's very boring. My only grievance is I was hired as a Casual CEP and asked the trainer what exactly I was going to be doing. They said they couldn't really tell me until I arrived at the plant. The videos I saw during training didn't really go with what I was to do at the plant. I was a mail handler at the plant, they put me on sorting packages that couldn't be placed inside of automated sorting machines. I had to manually grab a boxes of varying sizes and weights and place it in the appropriate container. It was very laborous.

The on the job training has got better, but what they teach you at the academy are the basics. When you get to the post office you will work from, there may be different ways of doing things that you were taught

The teach you how to work the equipment, handle the equipment properly as to not cause strain on your limbs and further problem on your back in the future. The taught safety procedures and cautionary instructions.

Job Training/Academy isn't realistic for those who wants to become City Carrier Assistant. It's very simple hand-on tasks and 4 days long days of lecture of USPS, Policies, Regulations, and how to perform your task information.

Tell ya just enough to mess ya up..you don't have a clue till ya get there the ya find out yr a human fork lift
