It is the mail so pretty simple, but it is the government so a lot of rules.

You will absolutely be ready to do your job with their extensive job training. Also, they have supplemental training sessions as needed.

Training is fast and you learn the duties on the job. To pay attention and follow rules is very important to avoid accidents which is a major concern.

The worst thing was I was told to show up at one location and they had shipped all of my information to a different city.

The training was great, just very extensive and long. There was no book work. They just start the employees off really slow when it comes to processing the mail.

No guarantee you will work in the city you apply for. The training consists of going out with a tenured carrier on his/her route, which doesn't help you when you're expected to sub on another route you've been on once or never.

The best thing about the job training that you will receive at the Post Office, is that you will be taught the proper and safest way to complete task. You will be shown how to follow procedures, complete check lists, and several ways of sorting through the mail.

They give a basic training session before you start. However, once you report to the actual post office you have been assigned to, the training is severely lacking.
