The only real training I received was a week at the "rural academy". Wasn't great but it helped with some things that you must know.

New hires are given a vague academy style course to familiarize them with general Postal Service functions. Hands on training generally is not provided in a useful style that will benefit the fresh employee. Three days of OJT are provided, but do not provide adequate training time or subject matter.

One to two days of ride along average training. After that, you are on your own, and expected to perform as well as a regular. Luckily, it was pretty easy to pick up. Some people can take weeks to learn it though.

Other workers would have to leave their set stations of we needed some help. None of the supervisors were anywhere to be found.

They give you plenty of training to ensure that you know what you are doing.
