Thanks for taking the time to write this, though at points this feels more like a short story / narrative, than a review of the company. I'd like to address the most important things:
1) "Fake Person In Charge"
My name is Jonathan Kay, I am the founder and COO of the company. While I am not sure who you are (as this is an anonymous forum), I am sure that you interviewed with me. There is no mysterious person who runs sales, it is me and only me. Typically how sales departments and sales growth works is that you do not bring on any sales leadership until you have at least 10 full time sales reps. At the time of this comment we have 6. So as the founder, and someone with a strong sales background, I lead and manage the entire sales team (training, questions, closing large deals, etc).
At no point had you ever asked me, or our HR Rep, for an introduction to anyone on the team. Because whenever that is done, we give the same response....We do not do this until after an offer is extended. Should you want to meet someone after that point we'd be happy to do that. I am always the person who makes this introduction, and so this is why I can be sure this did not play out as described. Had you asked, this would have been handled much differently. But you did not.
2) Company Health
Our company has been around for 5 (almost 6) years at this point, we are backed by gentlemen like Mark Cuban and Ashton Kutcher. Our business has produced revenue since day one, and as of the writing of this review we have tripled revenue since the beginning of the year. So much so that we moved into a new 4,000 sq foot office. This office required a lot of construction (knocking down walls, painting, adding light fixtures, and so unfortunately for ~7-8 weeks the office did not look at professional, and lively as it does now. I tried to explain this during interviews but there is only so much I can do.
3) Weird Offer Requirement
I wish this reviewer would have gone into more detail here, as we have the same requirement for all sales people. You must close a sale in your first 6-8 weeks here in order to keep your job. Its very simple for me, we are looking for sales people who believe in themselves, believe in their abilities, are confident, and are very hard working. To date we have only had one person ever miss this, but it has been the best filter ever for hiring sales people as it allows us to not invest time and training (which we invest a lot of) into sales people who do not believe in themselves.
To be clear, we have sales people ranging from 1 years experience to 10 years experience, all of which took this "challenge" head on, and are now making 2-3x what they were making when they first started here.
People seem to always have opinion (especially in anonymous forums, however, the truth is that if you ask anyone about Apptopia they will tell you two things 1. We are extremely passionate 2. We are extremely transparent.
My direct email is Jon (AT) apptopia (DOT) com. Anyone is more than happy to reach out to me directly should you have questions, comments, or concerns about how our company can be a key to your personal / professional growth and success.
