      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Intercom (San Francisco, CA) in Jul 2014

      Interview

I started with an introduction to the VP of Sales. We had a phone call to get to know each other and our view on sales, I was being tested on ability to ask questions, curiosity, passion for product, and ability to assess business models. Next step after a few email exchanges was an in person meeting for a coffee/beer. After this was an interview with a few others in the company. 30 Minute interview with CEO Demo another product to the VP of Sales to assess demoing skills. This was the early stages of the team so things were a little different than they are now.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Intercom in Dec 2020

      Interview

I was contacted by a recruiter at Intercom to interview for an Account Executive role. The conversation with the recruiter was great, however the hiring manager left a lot to be desired. The hiring manager was almost 10 minutes late to the 30 minute interview and didn't so much as acknowledge this. He asked the general questions for a sales interview, asking about my current role, what I'm selling etc. He said that the product I was currently selling could not possibly be SaaS as it was not a subscription model. This is simply not true - there are a million ways to pay for a product, and $/month isn't the only option for SaaS vendors. I received an email from the recruiter to let me know that the hiring manager didn't think it was a good fit because my experience didn't align.
