Hi there, I very much appreciate you taking the time and effort to share your experience with the world. We very much regret what has happened throughout your process. I went back to our TA team to verify and hear 'their side of the story' but basically what you're describing is 100% accurate.
The recruiter that you engaged with at Mews, told me that she and all involved hiring managers were super enthusiastic about your application. What happened next however, our TA team communicating that the role was yours, could be seen as a bit of a slip-up on our side. You see, Mews is growing at a very rapid pace. In addition, we consider ourselves a remote friendly company but that does not mean we can hire in every country we would like to. Sometimes countries (also in the EU) prove to be difficult to hire in, due to where Mews has locations and company registrations. We would love to be able to hire anywhere in the world, but unfortunately that's impossible. So when we discovered we couldn't offer you a contract (definitely late in the process, for which I also want to apologise), the only option was to hire you on a contractor basis.
All in all, I can totally understand how you would call this process irresponsible and chaotic. It's definitely something we learned from and again, I would like to thank you for your honest and comprehensive review of the proceedings. I wish you all the best in your career.
