It was a Job Fair so each company had its own booth. I went to RBS booth just to obtain some inquiries about the employment position they were offering, not to apply. Having background in neither banking nor finance, they decided to have an IT person to have some 'talk' with me since they were also opening and employment position in IT division. This IT person asked for my CV and asked questions related to my IT background and lives such as: Can you do programming? What programming language do you use? What do you do on your free time apart from school? About 10 minutes later, this person had to leave but he told me to wait. Not long after, another IT person asked questions, which to me sound more specific than the first person, such as: Can you explain the program you have made? Please tell us about your graduation thesis. Then this second person also left. Not long after, two people came and asked me more questions. This time is more related to RBS, such as: Please tell us what do you know about our company (RBS). What do you think about the current financial situation? After they finished, they told me that it WAS an interview. In my case, they never told me before hand that they were giving an interview. So my advice, be careful when a company said they want to have some 'talk' with you, it could possibly mean an interview. They sent me e-mail couple of weeks later saying I could move on to the online screening test. It was verbal and numerical tests. Then they contacted me again to move on for a group discussion/interview.
