      Risk Analyst Interview

      Jun 17, 2022
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Bengaluru
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at NatWest Group (Bengaluru) in Jun 2022

      Interview

This is in reference to the salary discussion conducted yesterday for the position of Risk Analyst. The following are the points about the discussion that I wish to emphasise. 1. Normally, an HR professional would handle the compensation talk, but in my case, it was performed by a manager who had no HR experience. 2. He was unable to meet my salary expectations and instead offered me a 40 percent raise on my present salary. 3. When asked about the reasons for the same, a few factors were brought up, such as my years of experience and academic background.. 4. In terms of my academic history, I was advised that because I do not attend a college that comes under Tier 1,2, or 3, so my pay ranges cannot be higher. 5. Although I may not have much experience, this is the first time I've seen someone during the salary discussion round discuss their educational/academic background. (I'm not a newbie). 6.Hearing someone speak about my academic background and implying that it is one of the variables and examples influencing my pay discussion was really distressing to me. 7. When I asked if I will have a discussion with HR about the salary, he denied it and asked to finalize everything with him. 8. When pushed for more information regarding the salary breakdown, he stated he doesn't know what an offer letter looks like. 9. He was attempting to persuade me that he didn't say anything unpleasant; instead, he was giving me instances and telling me that I was misinterpreting things, and he was not allowing me to talk. 10. There were also examples of people studying in IIT given and how their hiring differs from employing someone who studies/studied in other tier universities. This kind of behaviour is unheard of from a reputable organisation like yours, and it sets a horrible example for the next generation (from a person with 10-12 years of experience as stated by him). I'm still not getting the understanding of why a manager was permitted to bring up the salary topic. This event would be more painful for any other light-hearted person. I am a graduate of one of Bangalore's Top 10 Engineering Colleges who got placed in a Top Indian MNC through a Campus Interview, and my academic record speaks for itself. I would have really understood the proposed lower salary range if the person had honestly informed me the reason for it. Speaking about my educational history, on the other hand, was both needless and hurtful. Please take care of this matter.
