I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at NatWest Group (London, England) in Jul 2026
Interview
I got a message from a recruiter in Linkedin regarding this opportunity and he organised the first step which was a 30mins of technical discussion with 2 people.
The first person (I suppose the dev manage) initially gave me a brief introduction about the company (5mins) and then we went through directly the second part of the interview without let me to any type of introduction of myself.
Then the second person started to ask me a lot of questions around Java, Thread safe, reactive paradigm, DS and cloud.
I felt in general the interviewer were to cold and detached (not really empathic) and the question too academic and low level.
I do not think in the real world scenario we really need to know exactly how an hashmap works internally but rather I would ask how to use it properly.
I was not really well prepared this kind of question I got rejected.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Hashmap internal
Java overloading and overriding
Reactive concepts: Observable, backpressure
