Pros

The people that work at 1800 are top notch. It is very rare that you come across someone that doesn't genuinely care about the people they work with. They take great care of their employees when it comes to benefits and events (film festivals, summer event, lensy awards).

Cons

Although they do take great care of their employees, their pay/compensation is not competitive enough to keep quality employees. Over my time there, I watched some of our best associates walk out the door to go work at Thumbtack, Jet, Ebay, etc, simply because they were offering a higher wage. I also feel like recently they have lost touch with the workforce. It seems that now, more than ever, they are more concerned with money, and not with quality. I understand that a business has to be focused on being profitable, but 1800 has always been the company that was so great at listening to what their employees are saying, and implementing change based off of the feedback they received, and because of this, the financial side of things has always taken care of itself, and I feel that 1800 has taken a huge step away from that over the past 2-3 years.

Pros

The company makes a genuine effort to maintain a positive environment for its employees. They offer benefits and perks like a free gym and very low-priced cafeteria with good, healthy food. Its not too difficult to ask to shadow other departments of you have interest in moving around in the company.

Cons

If you're starting in the call center the pay is low. It's fine if you're a college student or have another source of income, but all those fun perks are less exciting knowing I have to try to survive on $12 an hour. I don't think that's unusual for call centers in Utah, but it's still tough. And let's face it, no matter how peppy your employers are, call service sales and customer service can be a bit bleak. A lot of customers are nice, but some are just mean, and it gets old feeling like someone's punching bag. Also, prank calls are somewhat common, and can range from silly/dumb to incredibly vulgar harassment.

Pros

Good hours and easy job access. I worked there in the shipping department the 2nd year they were in business. Things are different now, I'm sure.

Cons

They would give us "mandatory" overtime at the last 2 hours of the day.
