DO NOT WORK HERE!

Pros

Nice break room and good snacks

Cons

Everything! They have the poorest management of any company I have ever worked for. Show extreme favoritism to certain employees. Can't keep control over trouble making employees. Employees are lazy and management let's them get away with it. They fire people over certain things that happen but don't fire others for the same thing. Management is too young to run this size company. Basically my whole experience here was horrible. I will never recommend 1800 contacts to anyone.

We are sincerely sorry you did not have a positive experience. Our number one focus as a leadership team is to do our best to provide an incredible work experience for our team. Our leadership team has been vetted and proven with great reviews from employees leading large size groups such as our warehouse in Charlotte. We will never say we are perfect and see everything. We are always open to receiving feedback that will improve the leadership team.

Pros

Onsite gym (run by idiots), onsite cafe (thats actually really good)

Cons

THIS COMPANY IS THE WORST!! I have a Masters Degree and was passed for a promotion that was given to someone who 1) is younger than me, 2) has less work experience than I do, and 3) hasnt even been to college yet. 1800 Contacts will promote you if you suck up, dont complain or make waives, and dont give them any constructive criticism. Also, if you dont "look" they way they want, they wont give you opportunities. They suppress opinions of their employees. Its 100% a socialistic dictatorship.

We appreciate your honesty and are truly sorry you had such a negative experience with us. This certainly isn’t the type of culture we want to promote in our organization. There is however one thing we need to correct in your review. In the “advice to management,” a statement was made regarding wrongful termination lawsuits. This statement is unfounded and false. 1-800 Contacts has never lost a wrongful termination lawsuit.

Pros

Pay is decent, good benefits and treats for employees. Onsite cafeteria with very inexpensive but good food, company events and corporate discounts.

Cons

All the pros are ruined by the obvious politics. I work in the distribution center so I don't know how it is in Draper, but here it is very obvious how differently management will treat friends and family. I came into the company hoping to grow and worked hard to move up, but I was passed over by a coworker that had been there LESS THAN 6 MONTHS, but was buddy-buddy with the supervisor. Lot of people are friends from high school or relatives and look out for each other. Work here if you're looking for just a paycheck, expect to ve treated unfairly (unless you are friends with management.)
