Pros

Very stable business, clearly leader on the market Company performance keeps growing

Cons

There's a huge culture problem within the whole company, transparency is a key issue where C level employees give a speech about one direction but direct management gets a different one. Lack of transparency also extends to communications, bonuses where deferred, excuses where used as if this usually happens but hasn't happen since my first day of employment over 3 years ago. Raises and promotions were barely over inflation and even tho business sometimes struggle (is not the case), I feel that an honest message across the whole organization or per department bases about how this will affect employees is better than just try to quietly spread that message, same problem occurs in many other areas. This also includes the reviews of the company itself, if you wish to know about the engineering or product departments, look for those reviews, remote employees leave reviews that value to but given that they don't work under the corporate office they don't ever see how toxic the atmosphere is, but those reviews are the ones that prevent the score from getting lower. Lack of direction, engineers are moved everywhere across different initiatives, teams goals are supposed to remain but while managers are leaving the way things are done and the priority set by those managers start to change, in theory all of those should serve for the same big goal but that is not the case. There's also a huge lack of experience in terms of engineering practices, one managers doesn't want QA but doesn't have a plan to actually drive better quality resulting in a lot of rollbacks, engineers are promote to management or to replace product people but aren't trained on that, resulting in lack of requirements and details in tickets, mixed methodologies and over commitment There are silos everywhere, silos per office, silos per teams there's no direction in terms of the engineering practices. Some business users can be quite rude, lack responsiveness to technical and business questions happens all the time, it's hard to understand the value that a feature is adding to the business if you have no visibility on what drives the requirement.

Thank you for your feedback. We understand that our transition has changed certain organizational aspects of the business. We do also provide other ways for our employees to connect with leadership if they concerns. Here are a few options we encourage all employees to utilize: Schedule a skip level discussion with your manager’s manager, ask a question at our monthly “corporate update”, share your concern with HR@aplaceformom.com; or send a note to the CEO. Taking any of these actions can help clarify questions you may have about your role or focus of the company. We truly encourage our employees to take ownership if they have concerns or questions. The focus of A Place for Mom remains helping families find the right senior living solution for their parent or loved one. As the company undergoes changes to personnel and structure, the core of the business, to help families, will never change. Most employees love the culture and work that A Place for Mom does on behalf of families searching for the right senior living solution for their parent or loved one. This is our focus and the mission is rewarding for many.

Pros

Austin Offices, great people and used to be a great culture.

Cons

A huge shift going on at the moment. From what I can tell, the company is super siloed in Seattle (None of the departments communicate and nothing gets done) The huge political shift in the company has caused a lot of bad blood in the austin office, moral is down, and everyone that seemed to be a really passionate employee has found other opportunities. They had a chance to be great but are completely moving backwards with this shift. The higher ups have a complete disregard for data and what departments do. If it doesn't go along with their narrative they don't hear it.

Thank you for your feedback. A Place for Mom remains committed to using data, technology, and world-class talent to bring our free service to seniors and their families. No organizational shifts will change that fact. We agree that our transition and organizational changes have been difficult for certain teams, but the focus of A Place for Mom is helping families find the right senior living solution for their parent or loved one through the support of a local Senior Living Advisor. This is at the core of what we do and will not change. As an organization we are committed to supporting a strong team, business and culture in Austin in coordination and partnership with our Seattle office.

Pros

Work from Home Amazing families Incredible teammates Good benefits

Cons

60 hours is never enough - and you can only clock in for 40. Quotas and back-outs are ridiculous No management support - they will throw you right under the bus No opportunities for growth

Thank you for your feedback. Working the amount of hours you referenced is definitely out of the ordinary. In those instances where employees need to work overtime, they are required to tell their manager and record it so they can be paid. Recording accurate time cards, including any overtime an employee works, is extremely important to us as employees are entitled to pay for any hours they work. We take our obligation to comply with applicable federal and state wage and hour reporting laws very seriously. We’re also happy to connect with you on your individual situation to learn more about why you felt the quotas were unfair and that you had no support from management. If you expressed concerns to your manager and the concerns were not addressed, please reach out to HR@aplaceformom.com.
