Pros

The service the company provides to families

Cons

This company promotes itself to helping families but that is no longer the mission - its now all about profit at any cost. Employees are not reporting truthful numbers to the CEO due to numerous reasons revolving around how aggressive and harsh he is. Due to terrible leadership, employees are making insensitive and careless decisions in an effort to push leads and recruit vulnerable families in crisis.

Pros

Good place to learn about senior living.

Cons

Difficult to be successful here. Fees that communities pay A Place For Mom for getting them move-ins are highest in the industry. You rely on them for your leads and many of them can not afford the communities that A Place For Mom works with. Also, leads are not evenly distributed. You can easily have a day or more a week where you don’t get any quality leads. Your metrics depend on getting good leads daily so this makes being successful very difficult. They make a lot of money for each resident that is placed so they don’t suffer by overhiring which seems to be their mode of operating. Monthly Qotas are high and most can’t make them.

Thank you for your comments. At A place for Mom we are guided by a desire to better serve the families who need our assistance and that is our first priority. Our support involves connecting families to local Senior Living Advisors who help them understand their senior living options around care, cost and lifestyle for a parent or loved one in the city or town of interest. In any given market the choices can be overwhelming for families so the service helps narrow down and personalize the options. Last year we helped over 350,000 with this decision and the vast majority of families were very satisfied. Across the US and Canada we employ over 500 local Senior Living Advisors who support families find the right care for their parent or loved one. We are a completely free service for families, and we are paid by our partner communities only if a family moves in. Families can never be charged more for using our service. We are confident that we provide our partners with a valuable service – using our online presence and providing screened referrals for families that may be a good fit for the partner communities. With over 18,000 partners, families have a range of price levels from which to choose.

Got Experience, No Room For Growth

Pros

It was nice being able to work from home, and the health benefits were very nice.

Cons

There was some major firings before the end-of-year holidays, that was really discouraging to see fellow coworkers loosing their jobs. The reasoning behind many of the firings was to outsource the positions. I also wanted to transition into a more technical role and was shadowing for that position. After the firings, there was a hiring freeze and we were told there would be no job growth, and then the CTO said he did not believe that technical role was a necessity for the company (this was discouraging for the whole department). This was the nail on the coffin. I wish I could've grown with the company, but it was not going to happen in the foreseeable future.

Thank you for your feedback. We understand that our transition has changed certain organizational aspects of the business. That said, the focus of A Place for Mom remains helping families find the right senior living solution for their parent or loved one. As the company undergoes changes to personnel and structure, the core of the business, to help families, will never change.
