Pros

Work from home and help families

Cons

Larry and his management team are destroying this company. It’s so sad to see. Been here 4 years and loved it from the first day. In a matter of a year and CEO change, it’s awful. They no nothing about senior living, don’t give a crap about any of the employees. And call us a “bunch of whiners” for speaking out. Pay cuts, no time off, billing, micromanaging. The stress they are putting their employees under is unbelievable.

Pros

working from a home office

Cons

the managment is now just micro management to the point of bullying . They will tell you that you cannot leave the office until you have reached certain goals for that day. I have been working for APFM for over 5 years now. The changes that have been taking place over the last year are not for the better. It is now a company that the metrics are more where they are focusing on. Because of the holiday last month . They started December off with telling us that we are "slacking" and have us send them our work schedule each day . the time we are spending taking incoming calls and the follow up time. They will send you an email if you have put your calls on hold to leave your office for a bathroom break. Emails from Manger's all day long with threats of losing your job. But they are really not being realistic they want to be able to move folks into communities during a time that families are scared to do so. COVID has never been talked about in the company .

Pros

They usually hold a contest at month end to help people forget they’re working 12 hour days and how awful it is to work there.

Cons

You’re only as good as your current month. They micromanage and measure every move. Constant churn. Threats, coaching plans and performance plans are how they try to get results. Plenty of PTO but you’re not allowed to take it! And they don’t pay out unused PTO or sales bonus when you leave, either. Their VOIP phone system has the ability to listen and record even when you’re not on a call. Senior communities hate the APFM low converting bad leads (especially the do not call leads) and exorbitant fees so most don’t report moves, which makes it hard for advisors to make quota. Ironically, APFM tries to sell the senior communities on their garbage ‘email only’ leads, yet they robo-dial and harass families with nonstop phone calls.

Thank you for your feedback. We regret to hear that you did not have a positive job experience. However, your comments do not accurately reflect A Place for Mom, our values, the support we provide to families and our partnership with over 18,500 senior living communities. A Place for Mom refers over 350,000 families a year to senior living community partners and saves these partners time by screening family inquires to ensure a match between their needs and community offerings. This allows partners to focus on qualified and screened families. In addition, we help connect partners with families they would not likely have met otherwise. As you know, the service we provide to families is free. Families benefit by having an experienced local Advisor who can educate them on their senior care options and find solutions tailored to their needs. All of our Advisors have the benefit of working from home and if someone has not done this before it can feel very measured as everything is done online or on the phone. It’s also common for companies that offer telecommuting roles to record and listen to ‘live’ calls to adhere to regulations, provide quality assurance and training opportunities. Uplifting lives by guiding families through their elderly loved one’s care options can be emotionally draining and stressful at times so A Place for Mom strives to create a fun, engaging and rewarding sales culture by offering contest prizes and incentives for a job well done. This is above and beyond the Advisors competitive compensation package that has a base salary and uncapped bonus structure. We are proud of our generous PTO policy with floating holidays, and we always honor our commitment to provide that benefit and strive to ensure it fits the times and dates requested by the employee. We also offer many additional benefits (medical, dental, vision, life insurance, long term care, HSA and FSA accounts, 401K with employer match) at A Place for Mom, many of which are 100% employer paid. If you have additional questions or concerns, please email us at HR@aplaceformom.com and we are happy to talk with you one on one.
