Pros

A lot has changed since I worked at the company, but during my time there, I loved my team and my manager. We had creative freedom to try new things and experiment. Individual contributors were given the autonomy to work at their own pace. The brand was "fun," and marketing was encouraged to play into that with our content. Everything changed when ACI bought out ITProTV – they demoted ITProTV's highly talented woman CMO, and ACI's incompetent white male CMO took over, who was, to no one's surprise, later fired. The next CMO brought in was a friend of the CEO (figures, right). After a year, she "stepped down" as CMO. Not to mention the VP of Sales "leaving" the week after she did.

Cons

Turnover was (and still is) high. Everyone I knew at the company (including myself) was extremely underpaid across multiple departments – sales, marketing, customer success on-air hosts, and the company refused to give even the bare minimum 3% raises. For example, I made a 20k bump in salary when I left for a new role with less responsibility. Some individuals can barely afford to pay their bills working with lower than industry standard wages and having to wear multiple hats as a result of the turnover (because they don't backfill roles immediately, just redistribute work). The last three people who have left the company had no other choice because their mental health was at a breaking point, which was also my reality. This company and its senior leadership will suck every bit of life out of you if you let them.

Pros

I met some of the best people in the industry here. We had fun and got to create together.

Cons

- if you have to call out for anything (like I did when I got COVID), they will not believe you and will make moves to fire you. - get written up for “cell phone use” when ITS A TECH JOB AND YOU NEED YOUR PHONE FOR PARTS OF IT - the favoritism is rampant! If you don’t immediately suck up to the highest power in the room, you will be seen as not being a team player. - the nepotism is through the roof, everyone in a seat of hiring power hires their friends it seems, even if they aren’t qualified for the position they have. - employees who have been doing their job for literal YEARS will get lectured on how to do their job by people who have no idea what they do - mass firings regularly. I don’t even work there anymore and every few weeks I’ll see a coworker get laid off (via linkedin) - if you are not a straight white hetero and right leaning, you will have a hard time fitting in. - women working there being undermined and harassed by subscribers or even some of the other employees. - upper management wants to turn out nothing more than boring talking heads videos, and then they wonder why viewership/subscriptions are low!

Pros

Met a few people I will remain friend with.

Cons

The leadership is an absolute disaster. They have no idea or an actual pulse on what it requires and the work that has to be done. They hire you for one job but then add 3 additional roles to your work load. So you are severely over worked and under paid. Leadership will never take responsibility for their own faults. Instead look to blame the people under them. It’s an incredibly toxic and sad work culture.
