Pros

Idea capable with cutting edge technology,

Cons

Need for better advertising and marketing, need to be more agile internally to respond to issues, need to expand support to dealers and endusers. No real idea about the customer and how they select the products . Does not hire innovation in the areas they are weak. Must learn the competion down to the product lines so clear differentiation can be made and verified by the channel and the users. Dealers are in charge of the customers perception of the products and services AMX should be managing. Everyone in the company should be in sales and support of the customers. Do not pay sales and support personnel in the same fashion unless you are willing to degrade the pay for those in operations when they do not deliver the products and services to sales

Pros

Cool products, nice people, good benefits and competitive salary. Office in Richardson is quite modern and appears to be a good environment.

Cons

If you're working for a regional office expect conflicting direction and ever-changing priorities coming out of HQ. A lot of spark, but no fire (strong ambition, no direction, limited execution - believes it can regain market-share w/o innovation but by pure cult of personality. Senior Management changes often as executives quickly fall out of favor - this accelerates directional changes and often shuffles priorities!

Pros

The environment and people are very friendly. Everything is casual and it is fairly easy to snag upper management for a few words if you need to. Great work life balance as deadlines seem to always be fudgable. Benefits are good and atmosphere makes you feel like family. Reduced priced catered lunch. Places to take a break if you need to stop thinking for a minute (volleyball court, basketball court, ping pong and fussball tables). You get to see a lot of new technology work with most of the major hardware manufacturers, which gives some variation in task and challenges. Even the individuals who had to be laid off (after a bad quarter) were assisted by HR for months afterwards to help them get new jobs with other companies.

Cons

Its a place to feel like family.. in saying that you are appreciated but not paid for. Compensation is on the lower end but reasonable as it seems to be pretty low stress. Being a mid sized company a bad quarter for sales could mean your job though. Also project management seems to be done pseudo by committee causing feature creep and delays to be the norm. Also it seems to be a company mantra that 80% quality is good enough.
