Management is going haywire

Pros

50% discount on asics products Good benefits (holidays, vacation time off, insurance) Great shoes (esp. Onitsuka Tiger) Good Location in Southern California The biggest reason they are good in their business is because of excellent quality shoes.

Cons

There are too many but let me list a few: First and foremost, the upper management has no strategy in place on how to run the business in US sitting in Japan. So every 2-3 years they send someone from Japan HQ to look after the NA business and then the entire strategy changes. Numerous people in IT department left the company and no plan was made to hire a replacement. The responsibilities were handed over to available IT personnel and that created a chaos. ASICS America as an entity seems to have no say and they just follow whatever Japan HQ orders. Little to no growth in the area you are working. There are people performing exactly the same duties what they did 5 years ago.

Pros

The employee discount and staff dress when you start. Dress code is vey relaxed. Scheduling app is very handy.

Cons

Very poor work/life balance. Expected to be available 24/7. So many emails that you get bogged down and it’s hard to decipher which ones are actually needed. Hiring process is very complicated from start to finish. You must get get DM and hr approval to even post a job for sales associate, then it takes a day or 2 to show up on website. Then once you make an offer it has to be approved by the same 2 people. Then they have to do a drug test and a background check which usually takes at least a week. Unreasonable sales goal expectations. They will tell you that they have a bonus system but you more than likely won’t ever get one. Home office and upper management support is extremely hard to get. They will only respond through email and during the week.
