Not much opportunity left for foreigners in Tokyo

Pros

+ The company moved me to Tokyo after some Skype interviews even without testing my Japanese ability + Depending on your project, you can get a lot of seniority and autonomy because the team sizes are so small

Cons

- Salaries are low and raises are even lower - Not much of a long term vision for the company to speak of - Digital work is now being done out of Boston, so don't come to the Tokyo office for that kind of work - Japanese bureaucracy is in full force within Japanese offices, which can be very frustrating for people used to Western management styles - Most everything needs to be signed off on all the way up the company ladder, so the pace of change at ASICS is extremely slow in Japan - Don't expect to get involved in any high level decision making or get much of an explanation for decisions that have been made without your input

Pros

The company has a great line of products and allow the sales representatives to work independently to achieve company objectives and goals.

Cons

Management change effecting numerous long time employees in a negative way. Company morale at an all time low.

Pros

Competitive pay, easy to move up within the store if you are motivated. Bi annual stipend for new clothing and shoes $200 for part time and $400 for full time. Fun environment, one on one selling with customers is encouraged so you build relationships with locals. Monthly bonus incentive and great employee discount.

Cons

Seems to be a disconnect with allocation and actual product needs in store. Constantly a battle to have adequate stock in the store. Communication can also be difficult when dealing with operational issues, very slow.
