Pros

Good Benefits (for non-union employees), working with animals, many great coworkers

Cons

TOXIC management, the org taking actions that don’t align with the mission, little to no advancement, tyrannical leadership I have never in my life experienced the type of abusive treatment that is inflicted on staff by Adoption Center management. They target those who have ideas for improvement or who speak up about bad treatment. Tens of people are fired every year for illegitimate reasons, while the others quit because of burnout and poor treatment. Everyone is miserable. Employee’s empathy and care for the animals is exploited, knowing that people will put up with horrible treatment by management if it means helping animals. And in recent years, there have been shifts in structure to help fewer and fewer animals, euthanize more without offering treatment, and turning away New Yorkers asking for our help. Please do yourself a favor and steer clear of the 92nd St. Adoption Center.

Great mission, programs and benefits. The organization is forward thinking and has great staff. They do great program work.

Cons

Total lack of transparency. Core values are aspirational, not actual. Current leadership has cultivated a culture of fear.
