Pros

Pay is commensurate with market rates Perks like tickets to concerts, games, and races Great discounts on furniture

Cons

The place is career suicide for all but a select few. Don't expect them to offer you any exposure to current technologies to keep your skills relevant. You'll have to do that yourself. The good old boy club is alive and well at this company, so don't expect to make it into any position of director level or executive responsibility as a woman. Think I'm kidding? There are exactly 0 female directors and vice presidents in this company. As technology goes, they were finally starting to enter the 1990's when I left. At that time, they were finally moving from an old Clipper (?!?!?) based point of sale to a SQL based point of sale. But, the executives at this company don't like technology and their spending shows it. They try to do everything super-cheap, so most projects turn out to be disasters and this just perpetuates the cycle of distrust in technology.

Pros

The job is not complicated - easy to focus on if staffed. Real opportunities for advancement. Moved up in a few months, with limited experience in sales prior. Good benefits. Decent pay.

Cons

You either have a great General Manager or a terrible one. The "managers" (just a title to do more) if one lacks your entire team will lack. It's a lot of physical work Customers can be quiet a lot to handle, especially with service, accounts, or simply getting their merchandise to them. Lots of cleaning dirty, broken merchandise, rigging it together. Always understaff so no one is ever actually able to do the job they are hired for. Your day consists of answering all the phones, staging and pricing all the furniture and talking to all the customers while ol home boy CAM sits on his phone. General manager here is sexist!! Beware!! Second team meeting General Manager stated no one wants to be here (after me coming back to Aaron's).. Quickly..Lowered team morale, lack of accountability, high turnover, and risking business failure Everyone good will eventually follow.. sad. I was honestly very excited to come back to Aaron's, definitely saw myself doing things here but the GM here, quickly changed that vision for myself. Thank you aarons it's been real!

Pros

Can be good pay. Definitely get more than 40 hours a week.

Cons

Basically you are a babysitter that gets the short end of the stick from your employees and supperiors. After 5yrs with the company, and one of the top performing stores, I was threatened to be terminated because of one bad month in sales due to a natural disaster that occurred. The company states they require you to work 45 hours a week on the written schedule, however, you must always have your phone on you 24/7, even when on vacation. You will be overworked and underpaid for it. There's a reason the turnover for GMs is so high.
