SOC Analyst role is great for current college students or recent graduates looking to get their foot in the door in cybersecurity. For most, Abacode is not a company you will remain at for your career but if you apply yourself, there are many opportunities to learn a variety of cybersecurity topics and bolster your resume for the future. Chances are you will not get approached for new projects to work on, initiative is rewarded. Don't be afraid to express interest in certain cybersecurity topics and your desire to grow, opportunities may arise where you can be included in or shadow a project. Employees who go above and beyond are recognized and rewarded.
Cons
Most internship positions are in the SOC which operates 24/7, at the time of writing this there is only one physical SOC location which means newer employees are likely to work late night or overnight shifts. Pay is low compared to Abacode's competitors in the area and capped for employees without degrees, with that being said, most other competitors are looking for students with some amount of entry level experience.
