Pros

Salary is very good. Good benefits. Supplied with a truck, uniforms, and all equipment.

Cons

Everything else. Not the place to be if you want to keep your self esteem or have a life outside of work. Pressure on route managers is extreme and there's a lot of negativity and intimidation. I have been in the industry for many years and have worked for other companies but I can honestly say this is the first company that makes me dread climbing into my truck everyday including weekends. In some cases you can count on giving up to 6 or more full weeks of your year for on call. Forget about overtime pay. You work after hours or weekends or organize your truck and calls for the next day and also do mandatory on line courses all on your own time.

No career growth at Abell

Pros

For the most part Abell Pest Control employees are genuine and nice. Employees help each other out and its a nice casual working environment. Benefits are not bad. Hours are pretty good depending what job you have at head office, the hours are 8:30a.- 4:30p, Mon-Fri. There are a couple of annual employees events throughout the year.

Cons

You can have a job but not a career at Abell. There is no growth, no succession planning. The job you start with is the only one you are going to have while you work there. There is no movement in head office. People have been in the same positions for 5, 10, 15+ years. Annual raises are not based on individual performances. All employees (non-management) get the same cost of living raise no matter what your performance was that year. There is high turnover amongst the younger generations. There is too much of an emphasis on sales at this company. Employees who are not in a sales position are treated like second class citizens and are not recognized for the hard work they do and their contributions to the company. It can be very demoralizing.
