Bait and switch

Pros

You receive training and most staff are supportive

Cons

Where do I start? The workload, documentation requirements, and expectations are unreasonable. They lure you in with a great salary and a pleasant demeanor upfront, but it's all for show. The field training you receive doesn't match the caseload and actual work you'll handle independently. Schedulers assign you patients outside your hired territory, add new patients to your schedule midday when you already have a full day, and expect you to cancel appointments to accommodate these new patients. They won't schedule a patient load the day before, so the next day, the only way to meet productivity is to drive all over the city to patients they couldn't find clinicians for. Travel time, lunch/bathroom breaks, and lab drop-off time are not taken into consideration. Quality documentation suffers because clinicians try to find shortcuts, making it harder for those who are very detail-oriented. You will find yourself working 12-hour days trying to meet company demands, resulting in a very low work-life balance. BEWARE.

Pros

No pros to working for accentcare. They do not care about work/life balance. Nor about the employee or the employees family.

Cons

-Unable to take half days or even an hour off. Can only take 8 hours off at a time. -not the best health insurance -unable to work remote if needed

National leadership lacking

Pros

I think people who work in hospice are a special breed. Good coworkers who always want to help.

Cons

Revolving door of staff. I do not feel overworked in my position but I am certain I am the minority. I feel very demoralized by the messaging from National and don't think they care about anything but the bottom line, though there is a lot of lip service paid to retaining staff and valuing and listening to employees. Then they'll turn around and cut mileage reimbursement and the CEO sends out an email that we need to cut costs again. I started as legacy Seasons and I think there was a better culture of caring for and supporting staff before this merger. Now we're just grist for the mill. Local site level is great but the higher up you go, the more out of touch and unwilling to help people seem to be.
