Lots of stress, little reward

Pros

Good, hardworking people on the ground floor. Opportunity to make a positive impact on patients' lives.

Cons

Too much is expected of any one employee. It doesn't matter how much you accomplish, it's never enough. Reward/recognition is relatively scarce. You can solve a major problem one day and receive an email shortly after, asking why two other things haven't been addressed. Management puts a lot of pressure on ground-level staff so that they get their bonuses when their branches reach certain quotas. If you're hourly, you'd better make the most of your eight hours a day and accomplish as much as you can to avoid falling behind on your work, because they don't want to pay you overtime. But if you're on salary, oh boy. God rest your soul. This company will work you to the bone with little regard for your work/life balance. I knew at least one salaried employee who filled two roles on top of their own (finding replacements for these roles apparently wasn't a priority, since they had this person working three jobs for the salary of one). This individual worked 16 hours a day, often 16 consecutive days at a time, and was still expected to do more. As a clinician, your personal time is limited. You'll be asked to see patients on your day off. You'll be required to drive halfway across the state because nobody else is available. But gosh darn it, they have to make their money, so they'll continue to intake new patients that your horribly understaffed team realistically cannot handle.

Pros

Decent full time time pay, until you figure in the overtime into salary, then it’s peanuts. Cheap insurance. “Opportunity for extra work/extra pay.” Opportunity to move up within the company - as staff regularly burnout.

Cons

They guilt trip you into going out of your territory and take more visits than you can fit into a 40-50 hour work week, wouldn’t be terrible if it was once in a while, but weekly, day in and day out - no thanks. I took extra visits for extra pay for 2 months before they told me I needed to do paperwork for the extra pay, and they only compensated me fore the most recent 2 weeks. They made all their FT therapists PRN because it is better for their budget - not what’s best for the customers - the patients, or for the “team” workforce/morale.
