Pros

The culture/environment of the sales headquarters in Texas is good.

Cons

The company is a privately owned and has no consideration for hard work, tenure, or providing their employees with the resources they need to be successful at their position. The only goal at this point is selling AccessData to venture capitalists this year, so, there is no appreciation for the actual employees - everyone is just a number. Hard work often goes unrecognized. Product development and execution is very poor. There is little appreciation for new business/opportunities, and it seems they reward those who coast by on license renewals for existing clients. The employee training program is also poor, which makes the learning curve about 6-12 months. The company does not provide suitable training resources to help their employees be successful. Advertising and Product Information contains some misleading details that has resulted in numerous pending law suits. They launch products and services before they have been properly tested and vetted out, they triple the prices for a less stable software solution without notifying the clients of the price increase, and they have no sense of customer service to remedy these issues once clients have purchased a product. They have not been able to deliver on the promises made to their clients over the past two years, which has resulted in an enormous loss of loyal customers and a negative reputation in the industry. It is common for salesmen to have commissions clawed back because of nonworking products and customer dissatisfaction, which is not the fault of the salesperson. Tech support provides poor assistance to clients who have questions for time sensitive issues. There are few Technical Account Managers who can actually install the software clients buy in a reasonable time frame. There are also not enough Software Engineers capable of demoing the software, which stalls most sales opportunities.

Pros

Fun yet productive environment. Lots of talented and experienced software engineers. Good direction and foresight.

Cons

Poor work/life balance. Poor communication and feedback from management. AccessData really needs to have annual evaluations of employees and include compensation reviews. They have no formal way of offering raises. I went for 2 years without getting a raise and had very little feedback on my performance. In fact, I was told I would receive a raise within a couple months if I kept performing like I had been, but then 3 months later they went back on their agreement and couldn't tell me a reason why. Many of my coworkers had very similar experiences involving compensation and felt undervalued. After quitting I was able to easily find a new job that literally paid %80 higher, no exaggeration.
