Pros

I’ve sat here trying to think of pros and honestly it’s hard as there aren’t many. If you like standing in supermarkets selling services to shoppers than look no further! This is perfect for you. <- that’s the best pro you’ll find.

Cons

The office may be located in North Hills in Raleigh however, you will be working somewhere else. EVERY SINGLE DAY you will be required to show up at their office usually around 7-730am depending if you want to be early for parking in the parking deck. You show up for a morning meeting. You’re standing the whole time, and not in the most ideal attire (business casual). Before the meeting ever starts, you’ll be broken off in groups with your Corporate Trainer (CT)practicing your pitch and hearing others practice theirs. After that the meetings consist of stories about people overcoming obstacles and tries to correlate how that can be you in the field, or how the owners got where they got, or oh yeah, their money. The best part is at 945am you get to drive to wherever they decide you are going (and this is if you’re out in the field in the AM.) if you are in the PM you are still required to go to the morning meeting, go home, to later go to whatever location they send you to. These locations can be right in Raleigh or you can drive to Winston Salem, Rocky Mount, Fayetteville, etc. They do not pay for your gas. Most weeks I was spending 1/3 - 1/2 my pay in fuel. If you like any kind of set schedule once it’s made, this is not the place for you. This place will change not only the time you work, the days you work, they will change the locations as well, all at the last minute and it happens multiple times a week. In fact, if you decide to take a job here, check your schedule daily(if you’re ever fortunate to be included within the email). If you tell them that you are not able to work certain times or days, even if you make it known in the interview and hiring process they will schedule you whenever they want. You Like Sundays off?, cool you’ll work in Winston Salem in the PM. I mean what sense does that make? I bit my tongue in the beginning and sucked it up and went anyway when I was scheduled against my requests. Then after the 100th time, you get tired of it. They will also appoint a CT to train you. You will be required to stay in contact with this person. Oh, if you have questions regarding compliance (as this is huge for them), I hope your CT is better than mine was. I could call them 10x and they wouldn’t as much as text me back. Meanwhile, they’d talk in the company’s messaging group. I got more help from people who weren’t CT’s than I did from mine. Also, my CT thought calling me whenever it suited them was cool. This could be 8:30-10:30 at night. To talk about work or asked how I feel I could improve, again NOTHING OF DIRE IMPORTANCE. Meanwhile, they and you have been off for 5 hours. They decided to let me go because I didn’t keep in touch with my CT but I called them so many times with no response and nothing happened to them. Maybe appoint better CTs and don’t appoint people just because they are your boot licker. I would call them during working business hours, no answer. They called me at all hours at night, which at times I’d be asleep already. In the beginning I obliged and answered. After awhile of this nonsense, not only did I get frustrated my spouse did as well. So, if you take up a job here, be sure to answer their every beckoning call, OR ELSE. DON’T LET THEM FOOL YOU ABOUT THE PAY! They state that it’s salary plus commissions. IT IS NOT. It’s one or the other (which ever is the higher of the two). Essentially, for those who have a sales background it’s a draw. They pay $400 week (if you make 40hrs). If you made $1000 in commissions you aren’t walking home with $1400. You will only collect $1000. They claim it’s not this, that or the third. I call a spade a spade. You call it whatever you want. I’ve spoken to several Corporate Trainers (who will conduct your 2nd interview) and they even stated that they more or less deceive and skate around the compensation topic. My advice for EVERYONE. if they say salary plus commissions like they did with me, GET IT IN WRITING. They later skated around this and tried explaining to me that it’s actually one or the other but in essence it’s both since a W4 is involved. No matter what job title this company tries to put forth in their listings, you are a client rep. You will be standing inside a Sams Club, BJ’s, or CostCo trying to sell cell phones, cellular plans, internet, direct tv and AT&T tv to passing customers trying to get their shopping done.

Acquire Response
6y
Dear Reviewer, We truly appreciate your thorough review. We know the time you took to write such a detailed review would require a detailed response for you. We would like to clarify a few of the points you shared. First and foremost, we explain our business model and the pay structure in all three interviews and in your orientation process. Additionally, if you were employed with Acquire for the duration you are stating, then you would have had ample opportunities to ask those questions and receive a response. A lot of your feedback is actually prior to our business operations put into effect in the middle of March due to the pandemic. All of our client meetings and team development workshops have been moved to Zoom which would not require any travel. Just like most companies who have transitioned their business meetings to virtual platforms, they require their employees to dress in business professional on those calls. Furthermore, the reason why we decide to let a person go is due to multiple reasons. Clearly, you mentioned a lot of frustration with the company and the business model, which we would most likely see in your work ethic and interactions with others. As stated earlier, our business operations have changed significantly in the last few months which includes our feedback process and the implementation of the new ideas. We believe your review is based prior to this time and would like to thank you for taking the time over the last few months to reflect and still find time to write this detailed review. We wish you the best of luck in your next steps and hope you feel comfortable enough to express your concerns in person! -Acquire Human Resources Department

Pros

Can not think of any really, but I will give them this, they are very good at dancing around your questions and acting like they care about you.

Cons

If you like driving hundreds of miles monthly to Costco or Sam's Club and get ridiculed by passing by customers who are annoyed by you, then this job is perfect for you. Company does not care about you whatsoever, they literally hire everybody that walks in so dont feel so good about yourself if you get the job. I went into an "interview" and literally was not asked any questions. I could have literally never graduated high school and got this job because they never asked me anything about my education level or my experiences in sales or marketing. Does not matter what you apply for, it is very irrelevant, you will be a client representative. But don't worry after 2-4 weeks (laughing typing that) you get to be the corporate manager! how the hell can you be a manager after 2 weeks??? So what happens after you are promoted to corporate manager?? absolutely nothing, your job duties literally do not change. They hire new people each and every day because their wise employees quit within a couple days or they are smart enough to know its a scam and to never show up to their first day in the first place. Literally hysterical experience. It is unfortunate though, cause they have a nice office, thats just about it. Oh yeah, and you make 10 an hour and have to pay for your gas even though you will "get it back later" you will not make money working there.

Pros

Got to update my wardrobe, met a few genuine people, and got a free water during the interview.

Cons

Driving is a huge part of this job, with many teams regularly going as far as Rocky Mount and Fayetteville (the Costcos and Sam's Clubs around Raleigh are seldom used for some reason). These far distances will eat-up gas and cut the paycheck in half (making me earn almost nothing). This would be a minor inconvenience if I did get reimbursed, however according to the new 2019 IRS Mileage states that "taxpayers can no longer claim a miscellaneous itemized deduction for unreimbursed employee travel expenses". Acquire has failed to mention this, and leads everyone to believe that this is still a fair stipulation in their contracts. There is a very low retention rate of "marketing assistants" within the organization. They try to hide this fact by using the same workers in each of the photos, that are in fact part of the administrative team. Even today I've seen people come in for multiple interviews, where it is not uncommon for people to come for a week and then leave. There are literally no benefits with this job, not even professional ones. There is no 401k, there is no dental plan and there is no perks. Dishonesty is one of the biggest problems with this whole organization. The level of dishonesty and falsehood that is displayed online and in-person. The boss is taking advantage of people who really want a chance to prove themselves, by giving them almost nothing while profiting off of their hard work. They advertise one title, and give a completely different one. Even to my face they lied about the true amount of commissions.
