Pros

Exposure to the ABA networks and your work is rarely dull. There are moments where I've been proud of my work within the company.

Cons

You will be overworked with little incentive. Management will likely place you where there is a spot to fill without your consent or even prior knowledge of the given environment. This means that you will be placed on a team where the patients that you will be working with have extremely high rates of maladaptive behavior. This would be acceptable as it is part of the caregiving responsibility. However, do not expect frequent or premeditated support from management. Do not expect consistent communication. Do not expect management to allow time to reconstruct guidelines or protocol or negotiate levels of care given to the patients that demand more attention that would certainly drive a pay increase. Unless you are thinking to build some credibility and network to eventually grow out of the RBT position, please consider respecting yourself enough to look elsewhere for work.

Pros

We get an opportunity to shape how children with autism function in our world. Seeing progress in behaviors and communication. Each relationship built with a patient is meaningful and will always be remembered.

Cons

Not a good work-life balance. You are not guaranteed a full 30-1 lunch I personally think the company is not run well

Pros

The role offered a good degree of schedule flexibility. In my clinic, I preferred opening while my Clinical Administrative Assistant preferred closing, which allowed us to create a schedule that worked well for both of us. That flexibility made it easier to balance work and personal responsibilities.

Cons

In my experience, upper management and HR lacked the professionalism and consistency needed to effectively support operations. The company promotes a positive and inclusive culture, yet one of the primary performance metrics for Operations Managers is employee retention. While retention is important, I felt this sometimes discouraged leaders from holding employees appropriately accountable for performance and conduct issues. I also found HR investigations and employee relations processes to be inconsistent. As a manager, I often felt that allegations were treated as fact before a thorough review was completed, creating an environment where leaders could feel vulnerable to unsubstantiated claims. Benefits were another significant disappointment. Healthcare premiums for a family plan were among the highest I have encountered in my career. For a family of four, I paid nearly $1,000 per month in premiums, and I found the overall value of the coverage to be poor compared to other employers I have worked for. Overall, I would not recommend ABC as an employer and would encourage candidates to carefully evaluate the company's leadership structure, HR practices, and benefits package before accepting a position.
