Where do I begin? Abysmal pay rates, tons of after hours work, 24/7 on-call rotations that are not only unpaid - but very aggressive, most of my time with the company was a rotation between myself and another employee, so every other week you are on-call. And you will be called, often, at all hours of the night. You will lose sleep, you will always be on edge worried that the little free time you thought you had that wasn't spent releasing code after hours will also be wasted toward this dead end job... oh and you will NEVER be rewarded for any of it.
I worked at this company for six years, why I stayed with them I have no idea. Essentially I committed career suicide by staying with them so long, picking up completely useless skills working on awful products that had all that code your college professors told you that should never be written. I never once got a raise of anything more than 1 or 2 percent of my total salary (even though I was voted as most valuable member of my team and the quarterly "shining star" on numerous occasions). I was always strung along and made to believe that advancement for me within the company was just around the corner.
Well that never came, they shut down our entire office after being acquired by some company and they basically just let all of us go with zero warning and a laughable severance package. That was my reward for years upon years of hard work in which I was always constantly praised for... work that included many months of spending at least one day a week staying up all night after working all day having to either release some bullcrap emergency patch, or work on some critical issue causing some sort of outage.
During my time there I saw a very high turnover rate in the IT and development department. Most of development is now outsourced and most IT members had far better foresight than I did and got out of this company after less than a year working there, considering the laughable pay and incredibly high demand of what they ask of you.
It is such a mismanaged company on so many different levels. Back when I joined in 2008, it took them over TWO WEEKS to get me access to even use the system, so I just came into work, asked around trying to figure out anything to do, and no one ever had anything for me other than to just "shadow" other team members. So I literally came in there for two weeks and just watched people awkwardly and got paid for it. My direct manager didn't even know that our office was being laid off, and they don't even have a team to support certain products now because one of the local coworkers and I were the only people that knew how many of the applications functioned, and we were the only ones that knew how to support those products. I'm still getting called by the company after they already laid me off from people freaking out not knowing what to do because no one is around to support the applications they are assigned to on phone support. Well it's their problem now unfortunately, wish I could help ya guys but the genius upper management I guess just wants to let the products (which even though they sucked, were actually highly profitable) go to crap.
Don't ever work here. No matter how bad you are hurting for a job, it just isn't worth it. I got paid horribly and all I got for all my hard work at this company was an anxiety disorder and an abrupt and cowardly office closure. This company is an absolute joke.
