Absolutely horrendous

Pros

Pto is good. Ability to move up from c1 to c2 easily. And another reviewer said it right: clocking out at the end of the day!

Cons

CONSTANT paperwork (not worth the pay to do that and supervise kids). The management is all out for themselves. Jobs like this should have a union because any mistakes or issues just pile up and then you're surprised with a reprimand! Also, a very good supervisor was let go recently over a water pitcher being placed over a smoke alarm while he was on pto!!!! It's unreal how they can find reasons to fire someone like that over the slightest thing.

Pros

The people who do direct care are very good,but they receive no trading from the supervisor.

Cons

The supervisor continues her reign of terror. She singles out certain staff and builds a case against them. She is a control freak and yet she is supported by upper management. She is destroying the place. Referrals are down and also counties are irritated with the lack of communication.

Pros

A lot of these reviews discuss “low pay”. The pay is in line with the field and better in most cases. It’s social work, the pay is the pay. The benefits are great in this day and age. Raises are offered frequently and good performance warrants rapid promotion. It might not seem good to those that haven’t had any other jobs. But I can tell you, the benefits are great. The job is easy if you can appropriately communicate with the kids and set some sensible boundaries. I have seen a lot of staff come through with little to no communication skills and they have a hard time interacting with the kids. These kids are smart.

Cons

The field is challenging. There’s no getting around it. The job isn’t for everyone. The main points of stress come from co workers that are lazy and don’t “get it” and don’t buy in to being part of the team. Statewide changes to the way records and data are collected are adding to hurdles that make the human service industry more difficult.
