Run As Fast As You Can

Pros

This place is unreal. The director at our site and the supervisor single employees out, cover up issues, and are behind closed doors most of the time, instead of being part of the team. They would prefer that staff not communicate with each other, and do what they can to keep everyone apart. The supervisor calls foster parents names and lies to them . She demands respect and yet she does not treat those that work for her, or individuals from other agencies with the same respect . The director backs this behavior and referrals are down, foster parents are leaving and morale is poor.

Cons

There are no positives but I wrote the cons in the wrong place.

Pros

There are no pros to working for this agency.

Cons

Low pay, low staff support. Work ethic and quality of work mean nothing to upper management. The only employees who move up in the agency are in the click of who is liked, which is not based on performance. Level of education does not matter for advancement. Employees are not treated equally, different rules for different people, rules are not uniformly enforced. Most upper management positions have the worst work ethic that I have seen. Support staff are not treated as equals and it is the common belief that those in support positions have mindless jobs. Support personnel are the lowest paid employees in the company. Without the support staff Adelphoi Village would not be able to operate.

DO NOT WORK HERE

Pros

Experience working with adjudicated youth. There are some good people that work there, however, there is much more bad than good. The health, dental and vision insurance is honestly a good deal. Only $40 a paycheck for full coverage through highmark (at least at the time of this review). Rates go up sometimes. If you enjoy being miserable, go ahead and sign your life away to work 60 hour weeks with no recognition!

Cons

There is absolutely zero support from management, and administrative staff. No options for joining any kind of union and they will throw you under the bus at the first sign of showing dissatisfaction with the way things are running. Management and Administration refuse to hire additional staff in order to cut costs of running the program, and therefore the caseloads are extraordinarily overwhelming at all times. The pay is abhorrent and you are guilt tripped constantly into taking overtime and sometimes its "mandated" even though they cant legally enforce that. You are required as a staff to pass meds to clients... I thought that was the job of a qualified health care worker with a degree in nursing or something medical related.
