Pros

Part time hours was great, no Sundays or nights. Was back up CPP and could run any store better than most GM. Part availability was great and part brand names are better than most.

Cons

The CEO Darren Jackson knew nothing about how to run that kind of company. You can't trust most upper level management. Was forced to a Part Time position and had to give up 3 weeks of vacation accrued while a full time employer and over 100 hours of sick time just because I was no longer flexible due to other obligations. Last manager I worked for was very rude and accused myself and other employees of stealing and I was told either to quit or be terminated and be arrested. No proof was ever given to myself. Just her word. Be careful and watch your back when doing refunds and inventory paperwork

Pros

I worked cross functionally with almost every other department in the corporate office. Most of the people in these other departments were excellent to work with, very knowledgeable and helpful, friendly, and professional. The team I worked on was also excellent, hard-working, and meshed together very well in a fast paced environment. We cranked out a lot of work and got the job done well.

Cons

Advance Auto Parts had a former company theme that said "Our people are our best part," and that is a very true statement. Unfortunately, in my tenure with Advance, I saw the company culture begin to change, from the higher management level down, and this theme was not emphasized or recognized at all. A lot of knowledgeable, experienced people who helped build up Advance were overlooked and laid off due to the acquisition of CARQUEST Auto Parts, a former competitor. People began to be seen as simply casualties of the integration of the two companies.

Pros

I always enjoyed working the the store team. Over the years I have had been able to coach and promote many great teammates.

Cons

After Advance purchased Carquest numbers became more important the people. They always talk highly about the teammates but there actions suggested something different. Compensation was change and presented as a increase when it was a decrease. I was talking about unachievable budget and the effect on quarterly bonuses for DM's and store managers with a SVP and he said he didn't care about what anyone made before the compensation change. After hearing the lack of concern for teammates from upper management I resigned a few months later.
