      Public Perception is Misconceived

      Pros

      The people! Regular customers, co-workers, and direct management were great people to work with. Very accommodating to my class schedule.

      Cons

      PAY! Public perception of what this type of position pays is just not reality. You would imagine that a person whom is expected to help a customer figure out what is possibly wrong with their car would get paid more for specialized knowledge. The pay is just over minimum wage! Upper management wants the team to care, as long as they don't have to pay them for it. Since many of the employees also work on cars on the side, they do their best to help the customer. They just don't make what they are worth.

      Pros

      The roanoke facility has ping pong tables, walking space, and cafateria. For the most part you are aorking with good people.

      Cons

      This company is still an old school boys club. There is not much room for advancement for a woman, and if you are colored then just forget about it. If you are a young person in the Roanoke office the best piece of advice I can give you is to move someqhere else if you are trying to build your career. Roanoke is beautiful but the area and especially advance is not going to help you grow. More managers than actual workers and promoting from within the company does not exist at the store support center. They will go for an outside hire. If you want to advance then you will need to leave and come back. This company makes a lot of promises but there is no action and it is making some very good people go. The low pay and emvironment is not worth it.

      There are some good co-workers that I'm glad I met. When gone I'll still stay in contact with them.

      Cons

      When a person get hired off the street with NO experience for a position that you wanted in the BOSS gives him over $3 more then he offered you...but then expect you to train him.
