Pros

Adwerx has a fantastic corporate culture, amazing benefits, and a wonderful team of empathetic and driven individuals. I believe there are other employees having a 5 star experience in departments other than sales.

Cons

Adwerx has a fantastic and talented staff base of sales representatives and sales managers, but they are not set for success in any way. As such, they are currently churning through reps at an alarming pace, both through resignations and dismissals. Meetings have devolved from sharpening the saw to a maddening daily review of your pipeline due to an incredibly fragmented data reporting system. Reps are expected to update Salesforce, 1:1 docs, and also review with their manager/team each day. It is an incredible waste of time that could be better spent sourcing and closing business. Communication and product training on the sales team needs some serious work. It feels as though every week there is a change to what we can and cannot sell and at what level. I have lost a few deals over changing policies that were improperly communicated. Rules of engagement between different sales departments (inside sales/SMB/Enterprise) are not well defined and lead to animosity between the teams instead of collaboration via warm handoffs. On some teams there are a clear set of rules over what discounts and programs we are authorized to employ and on others there seem to be no rules until you break one. Adwerx could be a five-star company if they truly prioritized taking care of their sales team in the day-to-day operations.

Pros

Benefits are above average for a company of their size. Nice 401k match, good insurance, generous PTO, fully remote. The product is simple compared to most enterprise software. AEs don’t need any technical or industry-related knowledge to sell here. SDRs generate opportunities fairly well. Middle managers want AEs to cold call but it’s not the main lead source. Post-sale responsibilities for AEs are super light. Another team handles the lengthy implementation process. Account managers retain and upsell customers. If your customers churn after your commission hits, you aren’t impacted at all.

Cons

Compensation is below industry-standard, especially for non-sales roles. Promotion paths are not transparent or based on performance. Leadership focuses on new revenue, not employee development or retention. Quota attainment is bleak and turnover is very high on the enterprise sales team. Over a dozen AEs have quit or been fired in 2021. Favoritism is common on the enterprise team. Middle managers pass unassigned, hot leads to 1 or 2 top producers. They are also ineffective at coaching under-performing AEs. Guess it’s easier to just hire new ones. Every month is the most important sales month. AEs get commission checks 45 days after EOQ though. Product innovation has stalled. New products are not being released. They’re tweaking/renaming the same products they’ve offered for years. Hopefully, that $14.5M funding will make things better. I doubt it’ll be that brilliantly simple though.

Pros

Work life balance was nice and great benefits

Cons

Compensation was way under market value. Super high turnover churn on the sales team. One dimensional product. Lead generation was very weak and seemingly not the same for everyone at the organization. Was not what was described during the interview process. No organization for prospecting or tools for the sales team to use to go out and acquire new business.
